I’m not a big fan of the concept or resolutions, you shouldn’t need a new year to change or do something in your life. But it’s hard to not be reflective at this time of year. Also, my birthday is on New Year’s Eve, so not only is the 1st of January a new year, it’s the start of a new year of my life. So in that vain…
MY NOT NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS RESOLUTIONS
Five Editorials published
Whilst I’ve shot a lot of fashion, I haven't done a whole lot of editorial or published print work. I really want to change that this year, and shoot at least five fashion editorials, and have them published - ideally in print. I'm really excited to do more art direction and shoot planning as well as photography, and really push my creative boundaries.
Screenwrite 7 Projects
I've periodically worked in film over the last few years, and it's a growing area of interest for me. I absolutely love photography, but I'm also really intrigued by the idea of creating a narrative film. I'm learning the ropes of screenwriting, trying to get into the habit of writing a little bit every day, and have a couple of screenwriting projects in progress. This also leads on to my next goal...
Make a short film
I would absolutely love to direct one of the short films I'm writing. I've acquired some knowledge of film production over the last few years, so it would be great to take this knowledge and use my contacts to help make a short film.
Complete a triathlon (and don’t come last)
I competed in a triathlon a few years ago. I say ‘competed’, I mean took part. Because I was in competition with no one. No one was in danger of me keeping up with them. I came last. In fairness to myself, I did have a chest infection and spent the next week recovering in bed. I’ve signed on to compete in the Blenheim Palace Super Sprint triathlon (super-sprint means it’s a really short one). I’ll be swimming 400m in a lake, cycling 13.2km and running 2.9km. I’m sure some people reading this will think that’s an incredibly easy and short triathlon course, and they’re probably right. But I am starting at a very low fitness level, after a couple of years of less than great health, and acquiring asthma last year, which rears it’s head when i exercise. So whilst it’s a short length of triathlon, I hope and can complete it and not be the slowest on the course.
So this is slightly different to the other resolutions on this list, and not at all work related. For the last couple of years I’ve become really attracted to the idea of keeping honey bees. I’m not entirely sure why, but I think perhaps it feels like it’s something proactive I can do to help the environment and planet (we need bees to live, y’all). So I’ve signed up for a course with my local Bee Keeping society, and will start later this month. I should have my own hive some time in the spring, and producing honey by late Summer.
